Philanthropy Technology & The Performing Arts

Denise Perrier is simply sensational!  She’s the sultry voice that say’s “Ooh, KJAZ” and the same voice that enchanted Louis Armstrong and Laverne Baker and has taken her around the world performing, recording and charming audiences everywhere she goes.  Denise takes command of a stage, then the microphone and ultimately the audience and puts her stamp on the greatest music ever written.  When this singer is done with a song, you know you’ve heard the song the way it was meant to be sung.

Denise Perrier is an actress, cabaret singer and one of the finest jazz vocalists singing and recording for sophisticated music fans that keep her touring year round.  She has played every major club in San Francisco, New York, Paris, Russia and much of Asia and shows no signs of slowing down.  Her voice keeps growing and her intuitive grasp of the great songwriters she loves to perform spreads like milk on cereal.

Denise has appeared on stage as legendary blues singer Bessie Smith, sung tributes to Dinah Washington and Duke Ellington, and played vaudeville star Bertha Williams in the bad old days of of musical theater in New Orleans.  Never content to speak the lines and sing the songs, Perrier studies the people she portrays and puts herself inside their lives.  Denise is a virtuoso communicator who choose songs that suit her voice and style and then focuses intently on sharing the meaning of the lyrics to her audience.  Denise is immersed in the classic American Songbook and each performance is a testimonial to her impeccable tradition.

Born in Louisiana but transplanted to Oakland, California at age five, Denise early learned the music the family had on the jukebox they had at home and her early favorite was Billie Holiday.  Her first professional gig came as a member of a group called The Intervals, which Denise describes as being between the Platters and the Four Freshman.  They were playing in a club south of San Francisco where Louis Armstrong found them and put them in his entourage and brought them to Las Vegas.  From Las Vegas she was invited to tour Asia and is revered in that part of the world.

Denise has appeared at Mason’s in the Fairmont Hotel, Chez Jacques, the QT, Gordon’s, Fanny’s, The Plush Room, Barrett’s Pub, 39 Main, The Pan Pacific Hotel and almost every notable club in Northern California.  She has started in “One Mo Time” at the Lorraine Hansberry Theater and currently is appearing for Tin Pan Alley Productions as a featured artist.  Also in development is a collaboration with composer Hugh Martin and her pianist pal Larry O’Leno.  Denise has multiple CD’s in release and her most recent, Live at Yoshi’s is another chart topper.  This is one of the great ladies of music.
