Barry Lloyd is one of the finest keyboard masters to be found anywhere and much in demand by the finest professional vocalists playing the major cabaret and nightclub venues across America and the world. Recently accompanying the brilliant baritone Craig Rubano at the heralded Plush Room and giving the show a unique added value stamp with a duet with Mr. Rubano that had the audience on their feet applauding. Mr. Lloyd has been a major presence on the San Francisco musical scene for more than two decades. Working with such local, national and global talents as Ruth Hastings, Sharon McNight, Wesla Whitfield, Michael Greer, Raquel Bitton, Nancy Lamott and the late, great Charles Pierce. Lloyd was personal accompanist to Mary Martin and collaborates with most major vocalists performing in the San Francisco Cabaret scene.

As an actor, Mr. Lloyd has appeared in several theater companies throughout the Bay Area. In recent years he has been seen in such cabaret theater productions as At The Cabaret Chat Noir, Fred Astaire in Rehearsal (directed by Tony Award winner Michael Smuin), The Big Broadcast, and Cole! For Tune the Grand Up, on which he worked side by side with Jerry Herman, Mr. Lloyd traveled with the show to London’s West End after a successful run in San Francisco (where he received two Dean Goodman Drama Logue Awards for Outstanding Musical Director and Ensemble Member). With Ruth Hastings & Co., Mr. Lloyd performed Jacques Brel is Alive and Well…over 1,000 times. Under the auspices of the Belgian National Opera, they were invited to premiere the show in a sold-out run in Brel’s native land.

Barry Lloyd has advanced degrees from both the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and The American Conservatory Theater, where he taught acting and musical theater for 10 years. Mr. Lloyd created the Musical Theater/Cabaret program for Studio A.C.T. and continues to be San Francisco’s leading vocal coach and musical director for the Bay Area’s top cabaret talent. Lloyd collaborates with Terese Genecco and many of the hottest, jazz, cabaret and pop performers gracing the San Francisco music scene and continues in a variety of Music Theater at The Purple Onion with The Kitchenettes and other performers bringing light and life to lesser known composers and styles of popular music composition.
